Frequently Asked Questions ( FAQs)
In order to maximize the enjoyment of your trip here are some things to do, prepare for and consider before leaving shore
Alaska Fishing Licenses- you do need them!
Every individual ( 16 y/o and up NON-Resident and 18 y/o and up AK Resident) in your fishing party must obtain a fishing license prior to your trip with us. They can be purchased online at http://www.admin.adfg.state.ak.us/license/ They can also be purchased in Alaska at local supermarkets and tackle stores. If fishing for King Salmon, you will need a King Salmon stamp and you can purchase it online or at a location mentioned with your license. Halibut Stamps are also required and are provided on the boat with proof of your AK fishing license.

Your license and stamps need to cover the duration of your trip if you are fishing for more than one day.

The Halibut Stamp is a $20 fee required for anyone targeting or retaining Pacific halibut and helps support fisheries management and conservation. While anglers are responsible for the cost of the stamp, charter operators are required to purchase and register the halibut stamp prior to each trip. This ensures compliance with state and federal regulations and allows the trip to legally target halibut.
What to ( and what NOT to) wear and bring for your trip
Alaska in the Summer is a bit cooler than the lower 48. Layers are key so you can adjust to changing temps as needed (T-shirt, flannels, sweatshirt, jackets, etc.) Temps in our area range from 55 F -75 F with the possibility of rain and clouds. Please wear waterproofed closed toe boots or sneakers, and hats. Raingear and fishing bibs, are helpful but not required.

Our trips are fully outfitted- no need to bring gear or tackle.

You can bring lunch, snacks, and drinks- sorry, no Alcohol aboard. Please consolidate your items into one or two bags or soft-side coolers. No Styrofoam please, to protect our environment and waters. No glass on board as well.

No smoking ( of any kind ) or vaping in the cabin of the boat or bathroom during our excursion. We thank you in advance for your compliance.

Oh no, seasickness! It is not typical for guests to be sick during the charters due to water conditions. We recommend that if it may be a possibility for you that you kindly take precautions before boarding the charter.

We caught the fish- now what?
Our team will filet the fish and guide you on where to take your fish. There are a few processors not far from the dock, Coal Point Processing and Homer Fish Processing. There they will process and vacu-pack your fish for you. Boxes for travel can be purchased with them. Your fish can either go on your flight as checked baggage or can be shipped to your home by Fed Ex.
If Homer is not your last stop on your journey you can store your fish in cold storage at the airport until your flight home.
Huntleigh Cold Storage is at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport near baggage claim.
