About Our Crew
Capt. Steve Trachtenberg
Capt. Steve's love of fishing began over 35 years ago in Florida while attending University of Florida. During his time in the Sunshine state he was a certified observer for IGFA ( International Game Fishing Association) and traveled the world. He also extensively fished the waters of the Gulf, the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.
Later on while owning and operating a large manufacturing company, Steve continued his love of large game sportfishing in the US and Mexico. Simultaneously, he discovered a love of flyfishing. He has traveled the US gaining experience in Freshwater as well as traveling Central America and Mexico in search of the elusive Saltwater Grand Slam ( bonefish, permit, and tarpon).
Several years ago, Steve made a bucket list trip to revisit Alaska after a family cruise there years before; he had to Fish the 49th! After a trip of fly-fishing around Denali National Park and offshore fishing in Homer, he fell in love with the state and didn't want to leave. He is now an Alaskan resident and has made his home on in a beautiful cabin on the north fork of the Anchor River in Anchor Point, AK- minutes from Homer.
Steve is a United States Coast Guard 100 ton Master Captain license holder. This is an advanced license above a basic OUPV license most charter captains have.
Steve and the entire crew are members of the American Professional Captains Association Drug Consortium. As a part of this group we have pledged to be substance free while operating a vessel and submit to random drug screenings. This ensures that your safety is our top priority on the open seas.
